Started noticing buses in 1955 (why were RT's fronts different on the 163/177?) but started as a 'real' London enthusiast 11.11.59 when I was at a school in East India Dock Road, Poplar and the wires were being taken down with new RMs appearing. Took my last ride on a BX trolleybus (698 to Woolwich) 28/2/1959 - still have the ticket! Spent the period 1955 - 1959 hunting East Kent, M&D and Southdown vehicles mainly (as they crossed Blackheath Common). |
